The art studio has been filled with a table full of hand made rubbing plates.
The children have all explored them thoroughly. They have closed
their eyes and felt them, looked at the designs, asked how they were made
and made many, many rubbings. They have watercolored over them
changed papers and rubbing tools. The Kindergartners were the first to
ask if they could make a rubbing plate. This began a new area of study. We looked at the original
wood block and its design. We discussed that the designwas symmetrical and made up of lines.
They sketched out a design on paper before they began with glue. Trying to follow
their designs on paper they drew with glue. They will all be completing their printmaking
process next week. Look for the exciting images that will be produced
